After the 2017 Billboard Music Awards nominations were announced, it appears we have a few stage-five clingers. Drake, The Chainsmokers, Rihanna and Twenty One Pilots have all scored multiple nominations in more than ten categories–in one case, three times! (Looking at you, Twenty One Pilots). Check out which categories your faves are dominating at this year’s BBMAs.
Two of The Chainsmokers historic 22 nominations came in this category, where “Closer” featuring Halsey and “Don’t Let Me Down” featuring Daya are both up for the BBMA.
Since digital sales is a major factor in determining a Billboard Hot 100 song’s ranking, it’s no surprise The Chainsmokers received a double nomination.
In the last year, it was hard to not find The Chainsmokers on the radio. Both “Closer” featuring Halsey and “Don’t Let Me Down” featuring Daya received nods for Top Radio Song.
While Drake grabbed 22 nominations in 19 categories, The Chainsmokers scored their 22 noms in 16 categories, meaning lots of double-nominations.
Leading the ladies’ field at the 2017 BBMAs, Rihanna received two nominations in the Top R&B Song category for “Needed Me” and “Work” featuring Drake. Drake also doubled up in this category for “One Dance” featuring Wizkid & Kyla and Rihanna’s “Work”.
The Top R&B Collaboration earned Drake a double-nomination for “One Dance” featuring Wizkid & Kyla and Rihanna’s “Work”.
Country force Florida Georgia Line sent two songs, “H.O.L.Y.” and “May We All” featuring Tim McGraw into the Top Country Song category.
Talk about domination, Twenty One Pilots have THREE nominations for Top Rock Song, including “Stressed Out”, “Ride” and “Heathens”.
It’s a battle of double-nominations in the Top Dance/Electronic category between The Chainsmokers and Justin Bieber. “Closer” featuring Halsey and “Don’t Let Me Down” featuring Daya go up against DJ Snake’s “Let Me Love You” featuring Justin Bieber and Major Lazer’s “Cold Water” featuring MØ and Justin Bieber.
He is one busy man. Juan Gabriel floods the Top Latin Album category with “Los Dúo 2” and “Vestido de Etiqueta: Por Eduardo Magallanes”.
There was no pause button for The Chainsmokers this past year as they landed two albums, “Bouquet (EP)” and “Collage (EP)” into the Top Dance/Electronic Album category.
