Troye Sivan is “Kia’s One to Watch” artist, which means he’s performing at the Billboard Music Awards on May 22 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT on ABC!
Last year, Tori Kelly performed at the BBMAs as “Kia’s One to Watch” and wowed viewers with her strong, powerful vocals. This year, it’s Troye’s turn to step into the spotlight and shine on the BBMAs stage.
Troye is an artist that represents being authentic and true to yourself. According to Troye, life isn’t about finding yourself, it is about creating yourself. He encourages his fans to, “let yourself be the person that you’ve secretly always wanted to be.”

Leading up to Troye’s performance, we’ll be giving you an inside look at his journey to the BBMAs stage for his first (and likely not last) BBMAs performance.
“It’s gonna be like the biggest stage by far that I’ve ever been given to perform on,” Troye said. “I’ve been given this opportunity. I’m nervous. I’m really, really nervous, but I’m very, very excited. I really want it to feel big and awesome.”
Troye’s 20 million combined online followers and nearly 1 billion streams to date have deemed him a “prototype for tomorrow’s global pop star” by the New York Times. What began as a teenager making a connection with fans using a laptop from his bedroom has evolved into a global phenomenon.
Troye’s debut full-length album Blue Neighbourhood topped 50+ iTunes charts around the world, debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart, and has earned more than 700,000 equivalent albums globally in five months.
Collaborator Jack Antonoff (Fun, Bleachers) once noted that “with or without his presence online, Troye is a one-in-a-million artist,” according to Billboard. This sentiment has been echoed through glowing Instagram and Twitter shout-outs from stars like Sam Smith, Adele and Taylor Swift.
Troy’s fans and friends can’t wait for his BBMAs performance! Given his massive online following, it’s no surprise they took to Twitter to express their excitement.
