Taylor Swift’s Rise to Top BBMAs Winner Status

Taylor Swift holds the record for the most Billboard Music Awards won by a single artist with 20 wins. At the 2015 BBMAs, Taylor won more awards than any other artist by taking home eight BBMAs.

Taylor has a long history of rocking the Billboard charts and the BBMAs. She has seen her last four albums all debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with the last three selling more than a million copies in their first week.

She was also the top BBMAs winner in 2013 when she won eight awards. Plus, she’s won Top Billboard 200 Artist three times.

2011

Taylor was a finalist for eight awards and won three: Top Country Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist and Top Country Album for Speak Now.

2012

Taylor was named Billboard’s Woman of the Year in 2012. Even almost four years ago, Taylor was already one of the biggest names in the music industry at age 22. Chris Christopherson presented Taylor with her award, saying, “At an age when most of us are just beginning to think about what to do with our lives, Taylor’s become one of the most successful recording artists in the history of music.” Little did everyone know, Taylor hadn’t even reached close to the pinnacle of her success.

2013

Taylor was a finalist for 12 awards and won eight: Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album for Red, Top Country Album for Red and Top Country Song for “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”

2014

Taylor was a finalist for two awards: Top Country Artist and Top Social Artist.

2015

Taylor was a finalist for 14 awards in 13 categories. She won eight awards: Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top 100 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Chart Achievement Award, Top Billboard 200 Album for 1989 and Top Streaming Song (Video) for “Shake It Off.” After her 2015 wins, Taylor became the top awarded artist of all time. She surpassed Garth Brooks’ 19 BBMAs wins with a total of 20 award wins. She also became the most award female artist of all time, surpassing Whitney Houston’s 16 BBMAs wins.
